SACRISTAN
A sacristan is a member of a parish who prepares the church for Mass and other liturgical services. They are responsible for ensuring that all necessary items are ready and in place for Mass.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Preparing the church for Mass
Preparing the altar: Set up the altar, arrange the Lectionary, and put out candles
Preparing the sacraments: Ensure there is enough bread, wine, and water, placing them in place
Preparing the liturgical ministers: Help altar servers, Eucharistic Ministers, and Acolytes prepare for Mass
Cleaning after Mass: Clean and store the holy vessels and materials
Membership is open to anyone willing to prayerfully commit themselves to this ministry.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be a practicing Catholic
Have received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation
Responsible, mature, and organized
A good communicator with attention to detail
Committed to the liturgy and fostering volunteer participation
